Skin Deep
I can never be me
in a place where i am not
I can never be me
in a place where i don't belong
I WILL never be me
in place where i'm
just a color
I cannot live in a place
Where I'll never be accepted
Here is a place where love
is skin deep
I do not hold it against them
I do not despise them
nor do I pity them
I am disappointed in them
I want to open in their eyes
So they see not a color
but a person
I know I am just me
(though here I am not even that)
But I won't fight alone
I fight in God
