I Proclaim in the Name of Love

I proclaim, in the name
of love: I will wave the flag of reed and dove.

Forward is the direction I move
the hands of hate I will reprove.

Through the storm, I make this vow
I will stand firm, I tell you now.

I'll bow to no men, nor gods of hate
nor kings, nor guns, nor heads of state.

To those who seek tyranny, oppression, or greed
these words of mine you best should heed.

I proclaim, in the name
of love:

I will prevail, I will prevail.
Through fire and hail, I will prevail.

The author's comments:
I was inspired to write this piece the day I was inspired to become politically active, not long after my 18th birthday. I felt that if I truly worked towards it, I would be able to make a difference. This, my manifesto of sorts, is my New Years resolution.
