September 11
A birthday to some
 A death day to many
 The plane flew straight
 Through the towers

 The fire blazes
 Licking the sky
 With its burning tongue
 Painting it
 With smoke and ash
 As the mighty buildings burn

 A whisper of breath
 Was all that was heard
 As the dust settled
 Encasing the ground
In a layer of rubble and ash.

 The streets were lined
 With people, so many
As they waited in silent horror
To see if any loved ones survived
 Only to be disappointed.

There were no survivors that day
 Almost nine years ago
 But their memory lingers on
 In the hearts of those
 Who lost loved ones
And in the history of America
 Forever.
