I hear the Ocean singing, the crescendos rising with the tide
The sapphire deep stretching endlessly a capella
The seagulls cawing, their voices shrill and aloft
The rock chanting as erosion sweeps it to its salty home
The undulating kelp serenading the sea floor with gentle tones
The individual grains of sand whose collective humming is eternal
The wanderlust-harboring fishes, sending bubble melodies towards the surface
The carefree lyrics of humanity, ankle deep in shallow waves
The sailor carrying a tune learned on his first embark
The decrescendo of the sun dipping behind the horizon,
calling the dazzling rhythm of the lighthouse to life.

In my American Literature class, we were instructed to write a poem based off of Whitman's 'I Hear America Singing'. This really doesn't have much in common with the original, but I'm not good with constraints. ;)
