Bittersweet Love
We met one day on the corner of 46th and Broadway. We met in that pastry shop down by the "ONE WAY" sign.
The pastry shop with the white chocolate chip cookies, strawberry swirl cakes, vanilla frosted doughnuts with sprinkles, and cupcakes topped with a swirl of chocolate icing that leaves a bittersweet taste lingering in your mouth after you swallow.
But of all those sweet treats, I chose you.
That same bittersweet taste I get for your cherry flavored lip gloss smothering my innocent lips.
That sweet tasting sensation overwhelms me with love, compassion, desire, desperation, hesitation, and leaving me wanting more.
But then you gave me a chill of bitterness, and a horid feeling that only love can fix.
But the bittersweet taste lasted so long I had to find a new treat to wash it out.
But this time, I'll only try something sweet and enjoyable.
