"Writing is a socially acceptable form of schizophrenia." ~E.L. Doctorow

Of all the little things
I’ll miss your smile the most
You were able to light up the whole room
Just by that little toothy grin

Of all the big things
I’ll miss your hugs the most
They could make me feel so safe
Even when life was really hard

I can’t believe you’re gone
Could it have been someone else?
Why was it you,
You who was still so young?

I just don’t understand why it is
God does these things
But I guess that’s why He’s God
He knows things we don’t

You’re with Him now
So maybe you could ask Him why
Or maybe ask if the ones still here
Could have a little less pain

I’ll miss your smiles
I’ll miss your hugs
I’ll miss your kisses
And I’ll miss all your ways

You were a miracle in motion
And a friend to us all
You were bundle of joy
And I know you will be missed

One of my friend's cousins recently passed away. She was only two years old. I was inspired to write a piece where someone dies young. This is it.
