She looked up at him, smiling.
Pretending to, at least.
Everything she wanted was lying right beside her. But he wasn’t hers.
He’d never be.
She knew this before things got complicated. But that didn’t stop her.
For some reason she was self-destructive.
Anything she did for the sake of being happy
Always left her in tears.
Irony
Was never good to her.

He looked down at her, smiling.
Pretending to, at least.
Everything he used to know was lying right beside him. But she wasn’t his.
She’d never be.
He never thought it would get this complicated. But that didn’t stop him.
For some reason he liked being destructive.
And anything she did for the sake of being happy
Always left her in tears.
Irony
Was never good to him.

But there they lay.
Innocent hearts
Tears like diamonds
Both shattered
Fake smiles
Fake kisses with a make-believe meaning

He takes her life with every stride
And she lets him
She watches her heart being manipulated
And he lets her

And it’s a disaster
She’s a casualty
And he’s avaricious
Vicious

He will never love her
But she will always love him
She will always be waiting
But he will never return
He will never understand
And she will never learn

Because there they lay
Pretending
As if the other didn’t know
