“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?” -Marianne Williamson. Trying so hard to believe this but SO not succeeding…..

Work till you die
Work till you’re high
High in a copper sky
Hoping to fly
But wings are nowhere to be seen
You’ve spent it all on kings and queens

Wake up- time to change
Wake up- who’s to blame
But addiction to the plastic gods
And credit cards, you truly love
At least they can hide your fears
Your false smile, behind a beard

Make enough money till your rich
Go down and stash it in a ditch
Hide it all away, your heart has turned to clay
Save it for a rainy day

Spend it on a limousine
Quarters shining in your hair
And yet you’ve got nothing to wear
Nothing to wear
But Jeffersons and Washingtons
Friends for life, enemies when you’re done

And yet you’ve forgotten the ones you love
Kicking cans in the streets
Looking for bones to eat
You glance at them, you look away
You’ve forgotten what to say
Since dawn has turned to day

Your eyes are clinging to your bones
Dark circles swirling like a crow
But in those eyes I can’t see your dreams
In those eyes you long to be free

You bleed clear
Erased of all you once held dear
You said you were gonna go to Paris
Go and let your dreams soar free

You said you were gonna go to Paris
But that was all a lie
And so are we
But tell me dear what have you done
You plastic-coated chosen one
But gone and locked your heart away
Replaced it all with cash today

Dollar bills where you used to breathe
Breathe of love and ecstasy
Whatever happened to the soul I used to know
Gone and lost in the show
But don’t you know you’re just an act
Used for war, then taken back
Left in the hurricane, where minds have gone and strayed away
Hoping for the gleaming day
But that day never came, sweet one, and now you’re lying wide awake

Pierced through the heart with a silver stake
Of all the money you could make
Of all that you had yet to take
But all that was the death of you
Because you were selfish, and you were true
You said you’d go and make us rich
You said you’d go, forget this
You said you’d come back for me
But you never did
You got lost in the storm
Of all that dazzles

But all that dazzles makes us blind
Leads us on to the taste of wine
You forgot what is to care
And for that you are just laying there
Silver dollars covering your eyes
Covering your guilty lies

You went and sold your self away
On golden rings and shining things
While the thing that shined the most
Became nothing more than a host
Look inside the children’s eyes
The forgotten eyes
And see what is it to truly cry
But you were too blind to see
Spent it all on misery
