planets
I stare at the distance planets,
 wondering what out there.
Could there be a better life out there?
 One that’s not like here?
 One that has no fear?
One where I can be myself,
without the sharp judgments of others?
Could there really be other life?
 People like me?
People that will love me for who I am?
Unlike here where it’s cold and dark.
I stare at the distant planets,
wishing I could fly and get there.
longing I had wings so I could leave here.
I sleep and imagine I live with them
 I’m their beautiful queen!
But I wake and I’m just a servant girl.
 No place to hide.
 No place to run.
Looking out my small window in my empty room,
I stare at the distant planets
