I'm Jealous?
Painless gasps of adrenaline-rushed breath,
my burning ribcage goes unnoticed.
I fly past the neighbors' houses,
nothing but blurs in the peripherals.
I run for fear of being caught-
Caught by the icy fingers of anger,
the toxic breath of jealousy.
I push until my legs collapse
and I surrender, sobbing, to cold gravel.
And when I pull myself up,
battered and drained,
the icy fingers are replaced by something beautiful.
Forgiveness.
