The lights flicker while the scents
of spices getting acquainted with each other
dance around in the old worn-out pot.
The dripping water creates a smooth relaxing melody
as we wait for dinner to be served.
The table further sets the mood with its tablecloth
of junk mail and overdue bills.
We take our plates and our places at the table
and tell the stories of our day.
The sounds of choking on laughter
and glimmer of smiles fill this kitchen
as we create our own ambiance.
