Pitter patter goes the rain
dancing on the glass pane.
Must I always let lie
sleeping dogs in the rye?
My thoughts will not refrain.

Am I completely sane,
or crazy as a crane?
I still stare, by and by.
Pitter patter goes the rain.

The answer is quite plain.
I must begin to train
my mind to say goodbye
to things far past and nigh.
As I lie on the plain,
pitter patter goes the rain.
