Crematorium
The air, dark and gray
Heavy with the potent smell of death
The chimneys never stop smoking
Always watchful of you
As if saying,
Do you want to be next?
It brings a choking cloud that is a constant reminder of
What you know is happening
You never know whose ashes you are inhaling
It could be family
But at this point, it does not matter
You slave on, hoping
Hoping with all of your abused heart
That you won’t be next
You won’t be next in line to jump into the flames
To be eaten by the soul of this wasteland
It has devoured all of Hitler’s victims
You let the weight of the world crush you
And your insignificant existence comes to an end
Your last thought was
If I must burn,
I will do it a free man
