"I reject your reality and insert my own."

Why do we contradict ourselves so much?
Hate is fire, yet love is fire, burning brilliant under the same God forsaken sun
Who burns, too, for a world that remains ice frozen because of that fire
Fire and ice
Fire and ice
With all this fire, shouldn't the ice melt?
And when the ice melts, wouldn't the water left douse the concoction of fire?
What then would make us?
What elements left?
Wind and dust
Wind and dust
Drifting with only the reason to drift
And still so still
Without the fire
And the ice
Love and hate, hate and love
The sun, the moon
All fire and ice
A mixture that shouldn't exist
Couldn't exist
Without those hand that remain holding in the midst of fire and ice
As a barrier
Burning
Freezing
In fire and ice

I liked this poem; especially the rigid constrasts of fire and ice, love and hate... The second and third lines make up my favorite bit. Very well done.
