Everything and Nothing
I want to be your best friend
If I cannot be your everything.
I want to be the grass between your toes,
So I can feel you walk all over me,
Because it feels like second nature,
And who am I to stop the world from turning?
I want to fly to Pluto,
And sleep among the stars.
Because it will always be a planet to me,
Because you'll always be the one for me.
And maybe with its denser air
I'll forget your sunny ways.
I want to pick the strings of my guitar
And not think of you.
And loose myself in notes and breaths,
And loose myself between the lines
Because I'm fed up of trying to read
Between them.
I don't want to be your best friend.
I don't want to be your everything.
I'm smart enough to know,
When my fingers slacken on the edge
It's time to let you go.
