Peace, from God
Painful breaths
That crush my chest
Piercing thoughts
That pound in my head
All I want is to curl up and forget
Some people do
But I know that won’t help
My bleary eyes look up
Another sob escapes
My numb fingers fold themselves
And warmth spreads over my body
The tears are lifted off my face
And my mind is flooded with peace
My eyes close
And I am rested
He can see me
And heal me
No matter how fatal the wound
