Awakening
I open my eyes to skies of grey.
I want a new dawn and a new day.
The wars I hear of are bloody and rough,
Living your life is really tough.
I hear the gun shots, they ring in my ears.
I hear the painful cries and see the tears.
Lives are lost in the worst of it all,
Soldiers get shot, slain, and they fall.
Families are split and torn apart,
It ruins and breaks their aching hearts.
Many dare to end the war,
But soon come out bloody and sore.
There is a solution, some people have tried,
To make peace with the other side.
Life would be different, life would be great,
If there was never any hate.
The war may someday come to a stop,
And all cruel weapons may drop.
Anger will always consume us,
And we will yet have another fuss.
I wish life was different and life was sweet,
But right now it’s a poisonous treat.
This is my awakening, and I swear it’s true,
What about yours? What about you?
