Fake Insomia
It’s almost eleven:eleven
 Make a wish
 Wish it comes true
And pretend you believe it will
If you peel back the black sky
 You can just see God
If you pick all the stars off
 You can just see happiness
In the palm of your hand
 But can you feel it?
 Depends.
Do you really think that wish will come true?
 I don’t.
 But I still lay here
 Staring at the sky
 Wishing the moon was out
Wishing I had the courage to peel back the sky
 Wishing. Wishing. Wishing.
Until I realize I’m still alone, wishing
So I turn on my bedroom light
 And laugh so hard
 I scream.
 Because I could sleep
 But I choose not to
I choose to wish, wish, wish
 But we’re all dying
 And wishing we weren’t
