Midnight Deception
The moon rests as pale vanilla cream,
against a midnight plum of darkness,
cast by shadows of black licorice,
which weave through the night
like mist to frame a tapestry
of infinite wonder and beauty.
The sidewalks glow like moonbeams,
paths leading into unknown worlds,
discovered by the wandering and star-crazed
folk who are mesmerized by
the seemingly endless light that twists like ribbon.
How does the night deceive them?
A moon so luminous,
yet in truth a gateway
between frightening worlds of despair.
That sky of pitch black is an abyss,
which leads to the dead departed.
Those harmless sidewalks,
will guide them to their demise,
struck down by a drunken monster
tearing across the street like a blind beast,
whilst the crazed;
sleepy-eyed remain unfazed
by the saluting lights.
