She Is Awakening

“what IS she doing?”
Asked one bird
to the other
on the window sill
she was taking off her baggy clothes
and putting up her hair
she was emerging
“I do not know”
said the other bird
it cocked its head
and peered in
she was feeling fine
there was music playing
and flowers in the empty jam jar
by her bed
she was dancing
dancing life she hadn't
for months
the birds were very curious
because
for so long
this girl had stayed quiet
and still
but now
she was reawakening
