Those who wish to sing always find a song.

The chalk stains your fingers as you trace the sky on the sidewalk.

The blue sky looks bright against against the dark cement,

and the fluffy clouds become long white streaks across the rocks.

You outline our faces looking up at the sky.

Details flow from your hand

as you run the chalk across the sidewalk.

A glimmer in our eyes,

blush on our cheeks,

and wind blowing through my hair.

I gasp as I watch the pictures come alive.

The clouds roll along the cracks

while the wind ruffles our clothes.

The grass sways

and the blue sky swirls in fluid spirals.

The chalk dust colors the gloomy gravel

and turns it into an image of our smiling faces

under a perfect sky.

A drop of cold water splashes against my cheek

as I look up to see storm clouds roll overhead.

As the rain picks up pace,

the tiny drops work together to destroy your portrait.

The colors run together in streams

turning brown and soggy.

Waves of rain pour down across the canvas,

washing the art and all its colors away.

I start to cry as I see our faces slowly melt away,

distorting into unrecognizable images.

I look up at you,

ready to comfort you as your masterpiece fades,

but all you do is smile at me,

take my hand,

and ask me if I want to dance.
