white frothy waves
frozen in time
hovering oft
the dark water,
still.
and the thin clouds
spread o’er the ground
cloaking all life,
beginning to
die.
but do not despair,
there’s life underneath.
at least until
the cold seeps in,
a covenant to all things
dark.
what was once
supple, now brittle,
bitterly, cold.
hard blue eyes stare
without seeing,
dark lashes reflect
what’s inside.
the air chilled;
Still.

The author's comments:
I wrote this last year as I watched the last remnants of an Indian Summer give way to the icy grasp of winter. It of course has a deeper meaning, actually many different meanings, so look into it and imagine. This poem is much more creative and insightful that it might seem upon first glance, so read into it and enjoy. :)

I read it twice, it has more than one meaning, it's very deep and creative. Short but very well written! Good job!
