What is pretty?
Is it wearing low-cut tops
In subzero weather, sporting
High-riding shorts, and
Straightening your hair flat?
Is it in stuffing tissue down
Your shirt, catching the eyes
Of boys who hunger for more
Than affection, in wearing all
The bling you can?
Is it in breaking hearts and
Stepping on names, in
Whispering behind backs?
Is it in feigning innocence
When you know exactly what
You've done and why?
If being pretty means giving
Up who I am, and walking
Over people to do it, then
Being pretty isn't worth
My time.
