Together We Can
Starched white gown
Alone in the examination room
So alone
Empty eyes
Chilled down to the bone
Impending tears
You feel so lost, so hopeless, so gone… so alone.
You close your eyes, take some deep breaths, and picture the waiting room.
She is sitting there… for you
She is praying… for you
She is hoping… for you
She is wishing… for you
She is right around the corner… to support just you.
Her arms are open, ready to engulf you and surround you with protection.
You are safe in her grasp.
Alone, you are lost
Together, you can find each other
Alone, you are hopeless
Together, nothing is impossible
Alone, you are unsteady
Together, you have someone to lean on
Alone, you have to force your next breath
Together, you inhale hope and trust
Alone, it is you against the world
Together, she proudly stands beside you
Alone, the past haunts you
Together, you dream of the future
Alone, I cannot do it
But together… we can.
