Staring for Help
It sits, wings tucked, legs hidden,
Staring at me
As if I have something to offer.
Dull feathers ruffled and shivering in the wind.
Beak bright, like a big red
DO NOT PRESS button
Silently screaming out.
Black beady eyes watch with no barricades,
No emotion,
No judgment.
In plain sight,
But hiding.
I sit, arms crossed, hunched over,
Staring back
As if it has the answers I need.
Confused,
Uncertain,
Useless.
Messy blond hair blows in my face
As the wind screams criticism in my ears.
My hands remain motionless at my side
Finding no desire to fix the disorder
That distorts my vision.
Across the motionless pond,
The seemingly lifeless pit of water,
We stare
Secret messages swimming for hours
Through our line of sight
But mine are drowning.
