What if a life shattered,
pieces flying apart like a just-popped balloon?
What if a life tumbled,
turning over and over like clothes in a dryer?
What if a life was crushed,
broken into pieces like a foot through a mirror?
What if a life was destroyed,
memories set aflame and going up in smoke?
What if a life was over,
never having a chance to become who you want to be?
What if?

My life, unfortunately, has been plagued with many deaths. Everytime someone has died, I wonder exactly what is voiced in this poem. What if?
