My Abyss
I am not an author
Nor am I a poet
So my thoughts shall die on this page
As my emotions die in my heart.
Lack of emotion drives me to wonder...
Can this cold night give me numbness
Like the void of feeling in my heart?
If I have no one to turn to,
No one to talk to,
No one to run to,
Shall I just run away?
As the clock ticks
And the rain drums on the roof,
I scoff at how careless I was.
I thought we could forget my past.
I thought I would never have to flee.
I thought you were my knight in shining armor.
But, I did say my thoughts will die,
So those thoughts are buried,
Mourn not, for you did not know them.
Only I did, since I am not a poet,
And I shall not mourn,
I feel no grief,
The emotions are laid to rest as well.
There is nothing left to do,
but pretend I am the person
I once was with you.
How easy pretending can be
Without thought or feelings
It comes naturally
Lucky me!
Look, I'm a natural.
