As the adult world draws closer
The hypothetical future becomes reality,
Carefree days are gone
Toys and games reside in the attic
While textbooks filled the emptied shelves
Dark circles and
Caffeine
Circulate exhausted adolescents
Doors close and windows open,
Narrowing with every passing grade
Applications pile up
Grades weigh on
Exhaustion gives way
Cold and smooth as muscles relax
Legs give way
Time slowly ticks away
And the world keeps spinning…
