Yearbook Prison
Forever captured in that hard back book
The keepsake holding all of our memories
  Inside its cover filled with
 Hidden secrets and thoughts
The pages thick with everlasting ink inscription
Of “have a great summer” and “don’t change
 But we change
Not even a yearbook can stop that
It’s just a book of faces we sometimes
 Just want to forget!
 It’s impossible!
No matter how hard you try
 To bury every thing
The second you touch the black spine
 You remember!
 Remember every one and
Their faces are reprinted in the back of your eyelids
You remember the way he use to look at you
The way his hand felt on your cheeks
The phantom of his heart sits in front of you
Just like it did when he wrote that
Coded message of love in your yearbook
 The simple keepsake
That haunts more often than comforts
 Powerless to shut it away
 And forget the voice
 We change
We aren’t like we were before either of the 24th
 Not even inked words of
 “I’ll love you forever”
 Stop us
We are free to stop and to go
 And we go
Until we stubble on that hard backed reminder again
And are once again forced to look and see
The faces we had hated been to be associated with
But it’s over and done with
And we can’t go back and change it
Because all the evidence is there
In that accursed blacked spined prison
 I call my yearbook
