Flying Brilliance
Your feathers made of white satin,
Your little eyes the color of crisp peppermint,
Your trill the sound of sweet harmony.
I wanted you to myself,
For my entertainment,
So I locked you in that small steel cage,
Petting you with joy in my eyes,
Not realizing the pain I'm causing your small flittering heart to endure,
I want to pet you for a million years,
Hold you and smile at you,
But I see the pain showing in your eyes,
The tears you shed when I'm not there,
So I'll open that steel door,
And watch your brilliance fly.
