Only Me
As I walk, I vow to not turn back
To stand on my own two feet
 The way I did before
 When there was only me.

Sight is held at face value
 They don't see me
Only the face I put on today
 Not the inner sea.

The things that hide between the lines
 A child with no mom
 Abused and beat again
 Running away inside of me.

Her father who hurt her so
And the one who watched her leave
 Can't smile anymore
Feeling like I let her down.

   They can't see this
 When I hide my tears
 Pretend everything is good
 So I don't blame them.

So as I walk I vow to not turn back
To stand on my own two feet.
 The way I did before
 When there was only me.
