Once I caught a glimpse of a lightning bolt
Brilliantly flashing through the night sky
I wished I could be that bolt free as free can be
It's not like I don't like what I have or even that I hate my life
I'd just rather be a lightning bolt so someone could wish they were me
The beautiful streak I'd make for the world but sometimes maybe even terrifying
I'd cause dogs to shriek or kids to weep
maybe I'd even strike a tree
What I do know now and what I'll always wish is that somehow I could see
That miraculous lightning bolt once more and wish it were me
