To bury your own son
Your heart sinks down in your chest,
at the surgeon's voice.
He says he's done what can be done,
and that your son is gone.
You're so distressed,
you cannot rest,
because you have no choice.
You have to face reality,
you've lost your only son.
You pray to god up above
and wonder if he's there.
Ask the question that you have;
How could you? He's so young.
What gets you by is all the love
and knowing someone cares.
It hurts inside to have to do
what no one should go through;
to bury your own son.
