Inside/Outside
Inside
My heart is broken
My stomach is dropping
And tears are starting to form
Outside
I wear a smile
I act as if nothing was wrong
Just for you
Inside
I feel as if the world is ending
Even though I know it isn’t
Outside
I say “I’m happy for you”
Even though I am lying through my teeth
I suppress my feelings
So we can be friends.
You tell me you love her
I say “Good for you”
I really want to say
“Can’t you see I love you?”
Inside I want to cry
To scream
To run away
Outside I show a smile
And hope tomorrow
I will get over you
Why do you tell me
That you love her
When you know
I love you
Inside
I cry a little
And my heart
Forms another scar
Outside
I act as if nothing is wrong
Just for you.
