Vigorous chances that were never worth taking shred
Apathetic shoes pacing pavement to grass
Never made a difference either.

Are we astray?
Suppose Jack‘s Mannequin stopped making the difference.
Where would you be?

I‘d be a little confused.

The author's comments:
I wrote this piece about "bad luck" and "gambling". Not just gambling with dice or money, but gambling with your soul and abilities as well. What happens if you lose?
