Who am I
When I'm not with you
If I'm not by you
What I am to do
If I can't see the end of the tunnel
Unless you're standing in front of it
If I get lost without you
My map of life
What should I do
Without you?

You walked out the door
And I lost myself
In the darkness
When you turned out the lights on me
You were gone
While I stayed here
Stuck in the same spot you left me in

When I search inside myself
All I can find is an empty shell
Of what used to be
Just between you and me

You taught me how to love
Now that you're gone
Love's gone too
Just like you
Love abandoned me
Leaving me with all this mess

What do I do
If I can't fix this mess of a heart
That you left me with
What do I do
Without you?

This mess of a heart
Is pulling me even closer
To losing myself completely
All because I lost you
So I lost myself too.

The author's comments:
A couple years ago, I thought I was in love. When he left me and our friendship behind, I was crushed. It took me a really long time to become myself again. For a while, I thought he defined me. Now, I've learned that no one and nothing defines you, but you.
