The End Where Truth Begins
We claim that it's the 21st century,
the start of a new and brighter age.
We claim that we are ready, peacefully calm,
but why do we stand with such rage?
We say racism is over, slavery is gone,
so why do they sneer when I pass?
We say we've got everything under control,
but I see how we walk on fine glass.
Why don't you tell me,
do we stand on solid ground?
Are our dirty ways buried,
never to be found?
Then why do I see smoking?
Drinking?
Running?
Why won't you listen,
when I tell you to forget it?
Why do you yell hurtful things,
or on their faces, why do you spit?
Why do I see fighting?
Hurting?
Crying?
Our would is twisted,
demented if you will,
but only for now.
For now.
One day, I'll step out.
One day, he will shout.
One day, truth will come.
And there will be nothing to hide from.
We claim that it's the 21st century,
the start of a new and brighter age.
And brighter it could be, if we face our challenge:
only to turn a new page.
