Throughout August's warm moonlight
Drift the smallest, winged Austinites.
Propelled by gusts of summer breeze,
In pursuit of bugs and bees.
When appetites are satisfied,
Inside dark hideouts they reside.
The shelter that a bridge provides
Will mute the daylight's scalding pride.
At dusk, take flight, and shriek your tune,
By light of Austin's modest moon,
And bless the eyes that don't forget
Your haunted, flitting silhouette.
