The memory haunts me,
It stays on my mind all of the time,
I can’t forget it,
I can’t let it go.
It won’t leave my brain,
It is burned into my mind,

Everything about that moment,
Sticks with me,
Every time I close my eyes.
I relive all of it,
The embarrassment,
The pain,
The shock,
The horror,
The tight feeling comes back into my chest,
Every time I close my eyes,
And have to relive the moment.
Is this what regret feels like?
To be so embarrassed,
For something that happened,
So long ago?
How long will the haunt me?
How long will I close my eyes and relive that moment?
How much longer until I can relive myself,
Of everything the memory causes me?
The memory haunts me,
It stays on my mind all of the time,
I can’t forget it,
I can’t let it go.
It won’t leave my brain.
