a higher and more heroic air
I run, though preoccupied by
The silent conversation
Between my earbuds:
"I need thee every hour, in joy or pain."
I run, though exhausted by
The gathering minutes.
My watch says 20, 40, 50
As one foot falls in front of the other.
I run, though breath-taken by
The music and words that complement each other,
Making passing scenes glow with possibility,
Inspiring awe.
Reverberating in my head, these words define my runs.
Every hour,
joy.
pain.
