Running
The wind lashes at my face
 Pushing me farther behind
I take a deep breath and push back
Breaking free of its strong embrace

The sound of heavy breathing is all that you can hear
The sound of shoes hitting the hot steamy sidewalk
 Smack, Smack
 I keep going
  The end is near
 And beginning so far away

With each step I swing my arms faster
 My legs come up higher
 My strides are longer
 I keep going
 Can’t stop now
 Or else….
 They’ll lap me
