No Apologies

I
Will not wait
Refuse to sit here
And linger
In this despicable place
For an apology
I know
There will be none
To come
My way, not anytime soon
The words
That you procured
From the depths of your heart
That lashed at me
Freshly sharpened
Daggers
Stunning pain
You whipped me, for a while
With those words
A minute or two
And walked
Away
Thought that later
All would be forgiven
Your icy shoulders would pass by me
Day upon day
Still you would not
Apologize
Assumed I knew
You were kidding
But those assumptions
Are not holy
Not like you think
Not like the church you call home
Where all is forgiven
Your face, you know
Is an open book
Broad nose
Wide, clear eyes
Flawlessly dark skin
A puckered mouth, like a little pink bow
Smushed up underneath your nose
When I saw it
I would not have known
How gapingly wide it could open
And when it closed
Your wide, open face
Contorted
Into something I severely hope
To never witness again
Something that told me exactly what you thought
You felt
You knew
You didn’t know
So now
I realize your pain
Your need for forgiveness
But I am not God
I cannot forgive you
You cannot undo what you have done
So say something
Anything at all
So that I
Can be your friend
Again

The author's comments:
This poem may seem to overlap topic-wise with my other poems, but I beg to differ; this deals with someone having said something really mean to their best friend, but is too proud and/or embarrassed to apologize. So, here I am again, ever faithful, to demand renewed respect and open-mindedness, if not an apology.

I feel the sincerity of this poem, and know that you have a gift!! I don't appericiate people think that 'sorry' can make everything better. You aren't alone in this1
