His naked body
was wrung up on
the highest line.

His heritage left
hanging and forgotten
in the midnight light.

Where the moon
breaks the clouds
up into stars.

He couldn’t remember
what ruthlessly absurd morals
he had held in the days
preceding his demise.

Coward is the word
she carved into his thighs
right before the
trembling stopped.

Amnesia took siege of
her mind and she welcomed
the reprieve from her
relentless tormentor.
