if i had a sailboat
i would sail away
faraway from homework
faraway from pain
faraway from anger
faraway from fear
for the only sudden motion
would be the breeze
whistling in my ears

and if i had a sailboat
i would bring my friend
my one and only confidant
reliant till the end
aware of my ambitions
listened to them all these years
she and i would
sail
into
an entirely new sphere

and with my friend and sailboat
we would venture far
faraway from life and all
its bruises
scrapes and scars

instead we'd find an island
in the middle of the sea
untraceable on radar
far away from any screen

and we would live forever
on wild
big old coconuts
and if we wanted food to eat
we'd only use our claws
'cause we wouldn't have any clippers
and we'd really need our nails
to catch and clean the fishes
and cut away their tails

and that would only remind us
to tell some stories of our own
and as we lay there lying lies
with our stomachs gladly full
we'd pause
to take in our surroundings
of the beach and crystal sea
and give credit
to our sailboat
the middleman to all our dreams

and as we started dozing
drifting off upon the sand
which would be our grainy blanket
while our roof
- the starry sky
every star
would be
a reason
why we ditched
that thing called life

Thanks a lot! I'm not very good with my rhymes as you can tell, but I'm glad you liked the idea of the poem.

thanks, i was trying to express the desire to runaway to the physical equivalent of my daydreams - no where in particular, just a place faraway from stress and schedules, some place where you can hear nature, and of course taking a friend along to have someone to enjoy it with, like Calvin and Hobbes countless treks in the woods...

I really like the ending of this poem when it says "why we ditched that thing called love"
