Only Once
You could hear the gun shots within your heart as they are shot off.
The screams remain silent as the world fades into a white cloud.
Your hands go numb as your spirit is raised.
You see the despair on the surrounding faces.
You feel the touches and see the lights.
It all disappears.
You are in a white room with a candle.
Upon the candle is a name.
It’s your own.
Your time is not now.
You feel the electricity, then a familiar beat.
It all comes back to you.
You take a breath.
She is there with you crying with glee to see your eyes again.
Only once.
