Whitewashed
Photographs lay on display
Reminding me of yesterday
Etched into my skin like chalk
Scribbled onto the sidewalk
Where the children play
But soon the rain will drizzle down
Turning their smiles into frowns
And with the inconsistency of the weather
They feel like a helpless feather
Tumbling and tossing around
The sinister storm will not be kind
and if you're not careful you'll lose your mind
The thunder cackles, the lightning bombards
You feel like you're gambling a game of cards
Confused, bewildered, baffled, and blind
Now the eye of the storm, it's suppose to be calm
But instead it feels like an atomic bomb
Boom, Sizzle, Hiss, Crack!
You're going to have a heart attack
This feels like Vietnam
By the conclusion of the storm
Your life has been transformed
No longer blissfully content with delight
No longer joyfully filled with life
But tattered, battered, and worn
