Alone in the Air
Each step I feel the strain in my legs,
Carrying me over the rocks.
Rugged
Rugged
Rocks under my feet,
Through the soles of my boots.
Fresh and clean, an open shower of air,
Crystal clear water surfing
Down
Down
The rocks of the ravine.
Icy cold.
Mountain piercing the empty sky,
A dagger in the air.
Above the tree line-
High
High
Above the land below.
Vegetation flat against the landscape,
Wanting shelter.
I crunch on some snack,
Salty and sweet, nuts and chocolate.
Overload
Overload
Yummy in my mouth.
Mix of texture, whirl of taste.
The summit, earth’s cap.
The air is misty and dense,
We are in our own world.
Alone
Alone
Blind three feet in front of us.
Alone in the air.
