Soldier's Pain
Sick is the mind
Of the soldier conditioned to love his war;
Injured is the body
Of the brave soul;
Bruised is the heart
Of the man who bandages the wounded;
Worried is the mind
Of the desperate mother,
Waiting for a sign that he’s okay,
Waiting for the phone call that he’s dead,
But hope that will never come.
Tortured is the man
Who makes it out alive;
Guilty is his conscious,
Haunting him at night;
Desperate to die
At war in agony,
Rather than in peace in his mother’s arms
Sick is the mind
Of the soldier
Who would die
To kill
