Give me a word; I'll make you think,
give me a sentence; I'll make you wonder,
give me a paragraph; I'll make you question,
give me a page; I'll make you believe.

Give me a noun; I'll make you see,
give me an adjective; I'll make it real,
give me a verb; I'll make you move,
give me an adverb; I'll tell you how.

Give me a character; I'll give you a friend,
give me a rival; I'll make you loathe,
give me a lover; I'll make you yearn,
give me an enemy; I'll make you hate.

Give me an ideal; I'll give you a cause,
give me belief; I'll give you passion,
give me fear; I'll give you terror,
give me anguish; I'll give you tears.

Give me a life; I'll make you rejoice,
give me a birth; I'll make you smile,
give me suffering; I'll give you compassion,
give me death; I'll make you cry.

Give me a world; I'll give it life,
give me an idea; I'll make it live,
give me a dream; I'll give it breath,
give me a hope; I'll see it through,

Give me a pen; I'll give you a plot,
give me a plot; I'll give you a story,
give me a story; I'll make it incredible,
give me my words; I'll change the world.

This is a poem I wrote about the power that we as storytellers hold. The power that words have is truly astounding. We can make people love and hate, laugh and cry, rejoice and mourn. We can change the world.

"According to some, heroic deaths are admirable things. (Generally those who don't have to do it. Politicians and writers spring to mind.) I've never been convinced by this argument, mainly because, no matter how cool, stylish, composed, unflappable, manly, or defiant you are, at the end of the day you're also dead. Which is a little too permanent for my liking." — Jonathan Stroud (Ptolemy's Gate)

Holy shiny metal chopsticks! I loved this, and it's so true. Going in my favorites :)

"How could any step away from you ever be in the right direction?"

I really liked it, in a way it was Profound yet vague. I love your perspective on what word can do.

i absolutely love this (: you are so right, we can do anything with our words, we just have to speak up.
