Their love hovered about them
like a moat of dust
suspended in the sunshine

When apart it lay dormant
like a coat of snow
sprinkled on the forest pine

When together it whirred round
like charged particles
sparking interest at random

It congealed inside them
like an enlarged heart
beating something like freedom
